What is Self-Hypnosis
All hypnosis is really self-hypnosis. In fact everyone goes into hypnosis every day of their lives. Every time you day- dream you are in a form of hypnosis.
Hypnotherapists are merely guides in the process, making it easier for the subjects to enter good, deep trance states quickly and easily. Once the state has been achieved it is easy to recreate alone.
Hypnosis is the gateway to reprogramming an old or unwanted behaviour pattern or creating a new positive one.
It allows you to accept certain thoughts, which can change the way you feel and the way you behave. This enables you to do the things you want to do and to stop doing the things you don't want to do, but cannot stop doing.
We all have habits of thought and action. To change our actions we must change our thoughts. This takes work.
It can be done quickly by hypnosis or slowly by perseverence. You have to practise your way out of a habit.
An immediate change can only be achieved by persuading the unconscious, in hypnosis, that this action is no longer appropriate.
In order to be successful at what you want to do, you need to have a goal or vision. Your goals need to be created in detail, to give your unconscious mind something to go for.
When you use self-hypnosis to visualise these goals regularly you may find that you begin to notice positive changes.
Your unconscious is actively working on aquiring your goals in more ways than you can possibly imagine.
Positive thinking and visualisation in self hypnosis are invaluable tools for success.
In order to practise self hypnosis there are three seperate steps, all of which can be taught easily.
First is a method of Induction, used to relax a person into the trance state.
Second is a Deepener, which is a suggestion given for the purpose of attaining a deeper trance. The words used suggest that you will go deeper into hypnosis and various exercises allow the imagination to take the mind to an even deeper level of relaxation. This is where new and more positive suggestions for the future can be installed.
Thirdly is an Awakening, this is usually done with a count up from one to ten, or whatever combination is preferred.
This process is easily taught and once learnt enables the practitioner to make powerful and positive changes in all areas of their lives.
As a very wise man once said ' Give a man a fish and he will eat for a night, teach a man to fish and he will eat for life! '
